I have always worked in a children and families setting and started my career caring for adolescent boys with SEND. My experience of working with charities dates back to 2001 when I started work as a project worker with young carers and their parents. Since then I have managed 3 voluntary sector support organisations and the Carers Centre in Hambleton and Richmondshire. I have gained experience in setting up charities and supporting them with development and representation.
I now work as a scheme coordinator at Home-Start Richmondshire, a charity that supports families with very young children, and as a freelance consultant supporting voluntary sector development in North Yorkshire.
As the volunteer Chair, my role at POSCH is to ensure that we run smoothly and we stick to our ethics and mission. I care deeply about the wellbeing of children and parents and I have developed a passion for the needs of carers, and especially parent carers. I have a farming husband, a sleepy Jack Russell, 4 rescued hens and 15 not-so-sleepy great nieces and nephews!
